I'm wiring up a front camera. Where is the best place to run wires from the interior out to the engine compartment, especially with an RCA connector on the end?
I got a variety package of rubber grommets at Harbor Freight for around $6 and drilled a hole from the inside next to the main wiring harness cluster in the passenger foot-well.
This was for my amp cable but it should work the same for a camera.
I ran mine under the rubber molding by the door into the interior at the top of the glove box, like is shown when wiring up the ultrasonic alarm sold by one of the vendors. Real easy, quick and clean, no wires cut, totally out of sight and hidden from the weather.
Is the main harness down behind and almost below the battery?
Yes. From panel under passenger floor push a fish tape through the harness grommet. Then pull the wire through from engine side. Tape around RCA connector so it doesn't hang up in grommet.

Yes, that should work. After JUDICIOUS positioning and taping of the rca jack, I would put a little grease on it.

I've been able to get an amp wire and RCA for front camera through the existing grommet...
