Default CLB or LMC5 ???

I did search but did not find what i was looking for, I have a 2004 C5 Z06 with 24K on the clock. I have been warned by friends that before it is too late i need to install a "Column Lock Bypass" ?

Which is the best one ?

In advance, thank you for your time.

I would go with the LMC5 - it seems to be more effective at preventing the column lock problem after install.

Might I suggest that the first post in the steering lock sticky be UPDATED to include the LMC5? Since it is clearly the best option and the only one that, for now, completely fixes the problem. I think it'd be very helpful to new C5 owners, seeing as I actually found out about it somewhere OTHER than this forum. Just my .02

Just did the LMC5 yesterday. Took longer to read the instructions than to actually install it. The instructions included with the kit are so crystal clear. Apparently they have had people screw up a lot of installs and have obviously updated their instructions to prevent said screw ups.

Yes they have. In my case the p/o must have screwed up, which a couple of calls to Richard fixed. It's a no brainer as far as do I or don't I?.

Like many of us here I have gotten my hands dirty with DIY projects. I think the instructions that come with the LMC5 are possibly the best set of instructions i have ever seen.

Personality flaw on my part....which search did you do that did not find what you were looking for?

Most searches find the LMC5..."the product".

It doesn't matter.

I got mine off amazon... they all do the same thing. I don't see why anyone would mess with the computer and it's wiring connectors when you can get a plug and play unit and only have to remove the knee panel under the steering wheel and be done with it.

That's just me. CF folk seem to like doing things the hard way lol

Umm...take off two screws and plug it in. Done. Not disconnecting battery, disconnecting computer, fumbling with pins, etc.

I've had the CLB installed since 2007. That's what was available when I bought the car and had the issue. I have since bought the LMC5 and have it in the car for the just in case senerio. I always think about installing the LMC5 but then also think why mess with something that's not broke and been working for 10 years now. We'll see if that statement comes back to haunt me someday.
