Default Tire Dressing/Shine

Looking for opinion here....what are your thoughts on tire dressing and shine on your car, especially for shows....I almost feel when the tires are shiny it kind of takes away from the wheels...

I use a tire dressing on mine when I am showing the car (as well as some Armor All), but the thing I do to reduce the unwanted gloss look is to put the dressing on, let it sit for a couple of minutes, then use a rag to wipe the tire down. This allows the tire to present a better appearance yet not look like it is overdone. To me, it's not taking away from the wheels but instead is just a level of detailing that makes the wheel area look better.

Shiny tires are ghetto. I use Bleachwhite to get 'em black and original Armorall buffed off.

Sometimes it makes the look, such is the case with my car. It really brings out the luster of the metalic bronze.

I like 303 Aerospace Protectant. Gives a matte finish. Not too shiny. The tires just look clean and new. It's also good for the tires.

Shiny, greasy looks like $hit IMO, plus it slings crap all over the place if its cheap stuff....

I like a clean matte look that I get from Autoglym products.

The car's not done until the wheels are spotless and the tires are dressed. The Meguiars Endurance tire dressing and Chadwicks No Sling tire dressing are two very good products.

I've used Aerospace 303 on all my vehicles for years. I don't like the shiny look.

When I bought my new Z06 last year I requested that they not put any of their goop on my tires.

I'd suggest looking into Adam's Polishes VRT, makes the tires look great but not overly shiny.

A plain dull, dirty tire looks the worse. Matte, semi gloss, shiny, I've tried many and most look better than nothing at all. What helps make a car noticed besides what kind of car it is are the wheels and tires. JMHO

I do not like shiny apart from the black paint (or whatever other color one may choose) on the car. Shiny wheels, shiny engine parts, shiny dash... all no. Shiny tires, biggest no. Clean and black perhaps, but definitely not shiny.

Have used a number of tire dressings over the years, with varying levels of satisfaction. 303 is good for the matte-finished look. Currently, am using Meguiar's Hyper Dressing (1:1 dilution), and am pretty happy with the results. I like the wet/glossy look, tho it's hard to achieve when using a foam applicator pad. I tend to favor the water-based products... yes, they turn milky when they get wet, but they don't stain the paint as bad, in the event that you DO get sling. I usually don't drive my car (after applying tire dressing) until the next day... gives the dressing a chance to dry... and a chance for excess product to settle-out elsewhere...

I used to use tire shine but not anymore.
No matter which product I used it always slung off in the wheel wells and on the sides of the car. After a while I would notice that it would leave a film behind on the tires that attracted more dirt.

For now it's just straight tire cleaner and let it go with it's "natural" appearance.
I've always used Bleach White for this however it doesn't seem to clean as well as in the past, almost like it's been watered down or a different formula. I'm currently trying some different tire cleaners to find one that works better.

FWIW, I had a friend in High School that would use Astroglide on his tires and his dash with pretty great results. He did this until his dad stopped working at the Adult Store.

Meguiars hot dressing in spray can is all I use . Shiny sure looks a heck of a lot better than a dull dirty faded looking tire

most of the oil-based tire dressings I've used over the years tended to turn the tires brown once they got wet... which is why I've stuck with the water-based products. I've also used Wesley's Tire Bleche to clean the tires... tho if you have a heavy buildup of product, it's going to take several applications & some serious scrubbing to get through it. Agree that it seems like Wesleys has altered/watered-down the formulation... possibly to prevent excessive etching of non-clearcoated rims.
