I took out the console to repair a sticky latch, all it needed was some silicone grease. The back 2/3 of the console floor is tilted up so things tend to migrate to the lower front 1/3 as seen here:
Two inserts were made on a 3d printer and a pouch was made from thin Neoprene rubber sheeting:
The result is everything remaining in place and easy to find.
The pouch is easy to make from 14" x 14" of 1/32" thick neoprene rubber; fold in half and make a hole through the lower right corner through both layers then attach with one lid screw. Stretch a little, make the hole at the left lower corner and screw that in; repeat for the upper left and right screws then one for the upper center screw only for the back layer then remove to trim. The best way to make holes in this material is with a sharpened small diameter brass tube. Some RTV was added to the sides between both layers. Removing the screws allows the pouch to be removed and the console goes back to original if desired with no damage. The two 3d printed holders were designed for specific items; for example, the small gold colored item is an old Zippo tape measure and the gray/blue is an old Sears garage door controller. A 3d printer isn't necessary to make your own holder, start with a 1/32" thick aluminum sheet substrate then glue shaped wood parts to it and finish off with black paint. The large shallow areas are for finger access such as around the pen. I have no time to become a vendor, these are posted so some of you can make your own or you be a vendor.
That is nice. OP, thanks for sharing what you did for your car. It's somewhat an issue with the modern Corvettes. I may try that as I stuff my wallet and other items in my pockets into the console to prevent wear on the seats.
BTW, it's interesting and disappointing that mods feel they must caution a contributor on something they have not actually done yet, and the original post showed no intention of doing.
