I’ve never seen one driving on the street, only in pictures.
They sure do look dangerous, nothing to them. You would probably get
killed if a guy a bicycle hit you.
Reminds me... I actually got rear ended (while parked) by a bicycle. Small dent in the trunk of my brothers 68 Cougar, big dent in him.

Actually it has a 4 and 5 star rating for safety. It's basically a roll cage with a body put around it. No lie, at the place she bought it they had stripped down body to show you what's underneath. That sold her and she's had two of them, a gas one first and now all electric.
The C5 is a lot more car. MUCH better performance and fun to drive.
The fuel economy is not even that much different. The EPA highway rating is 38 or 39 mpg on the Smart car while my lightly modded C5 (LG headers/B&B exaust/Fast/Vararam/tune) got 32.2 mpg on a 1700 mile road trip.
I like driving the used Corvettes much better than a cheap new car. I guess that is why I have 3 Corvettes and no cheap new econoboxes.
The 'fourtwo' looks like it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
When I was younger I did like the look of the Smart Roadster though (I don't think it was offered in USA). There some echo's of a shrunken C5 Coupe in the shape. The problem with it though was the powertrain, only offered with a slow shifting automatic. With a manual this would have been great fun.

I saw one of the roadsters in Narni Italy. Not bad looking. I got up a little closer and laughed when I saw the rear drum brakes. It's not a high quality piece. Looked much better from a distance.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
