The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The few times I've seen them on the street, the driver is always OLD.
Unless you live in some Ye Old European Village where the streets are 10 feet wide cobblestone, I don't see the point.
OK seriously; my story on getting my first Corvette 4 years ago (my current car).
I had been driving BMW's for around 17 years and wanted a change. We discussed it for a bit, then saw an ad for a new Nissan Micra for right around $10K (where my story ties with yours perhaps). Wow, $10K for a brand new car, warranty... how responsible that would be, with a 3 year old and a new born (wife had a minivan which is now my winter vehicle). We actually looked into it... but realized that all told, with AC, taxes, around $17K (never would have happened anyway).
Let's start again. Do the kids ever go in my car, no. So 2 doors or even 2 seats is OK. Does gas mileage matter, no as I only drive 20 miles round trip to work. BMW to Micra turns to performance car, which turned to a Corvette. Started looking at C4 but HP limitations among other things went to C5 real quick.
2 test drives; one base which underwhelmed me, then a Z06. Bought it during the drive. Done.

Please note that I have neither and do have a C5.

6 months ago my Uncle Mack passed away and I inherited his 2001 C5 Coupe. I have completely forgotten about my GTI.

They sure do look dangerous, nothing to them. You would probably get
killed if a guy a bicycle hit you.
