I would just ask your agent and be truthful about what happened - if you didn't latch the top down, say so. Not a good idea to commit insurance fraud and it's hard to believe the whole top would fly off if the latches were engaged.
Be honest! You don't want to find yourself in the position of being accused of a attempted insurance fraud. If you have comprehensive I believe you have a good chance of having it covered, depending on your deductible. An error on your part, not latching your top, if that is the case, I wouldn't think would preclude a claim. I'd be interested in hearing how this turns out. Good luck with this and take care!
Leaving the top unlatched was simply an accident and that's what insurance is for. Like others have said, filing a claim may not be worth your time if you have a high deductible.

So I just wanted to follow up and say that indeed "Honesty" is the best policy. Insurance adjuster came out...I told him that the weather was terrible but I could have left my targa unlocked as well causing me to meet the "flying roof club" membership requirements. Lol! He inspected and said we'll take care of it because **** happens! Appreciate all the feedback guys!

Great outcome, thanks for the update. Hopefully I wont join the FR Club.
Did you have to pay deductible though?
Some people just want to be a "member" of something bigger than themselves!
I am sure GM is aware in the same way that Apple is aware of how many idiots walk into light posts, fountains and fall down stairs while trying to walk and text on an iPhone... you just can't save some people from themselves! This coming from someone who almost joined this club a few years ago.
It would be nice if they at least added a warning light if a latch were left disengaged, but that would also be one more thing to go wrong?
At least a warning light? how about the three sensors, one for each latch, how about the wire harness, how about the extra time to add these to both the top and the chassis. We tried to make the car idiot proof, but just too many high end idiots out there.
Since I was shot down for, a 7 cent revision to one of my designs, a 15 dollar( cost to manufacture ) ( parts and assembly cost ) warning system would be laughable. But then you would have to be on the inside of design to understand just how laughable it would be.
Right now on Craigs list Boston with a search Radius of 200 Miles of 02136 zip code there are 2 Glass tops for a C5 asking Price $400. Reason I know is I'm looking for a reasonably Blue tint Acrylic Top for my sons C4 and they are never that reasonable it makes no sense to me I think the C5 top is a nicer top with the easy on easy off ! But why is a Mystery Cause for $400 I would not put a claim in just a reason for insurance to up there Premium next Year !?!? But what ever works for you is Good for You ! Good luck
