Ive read that as well... Mine has been around 190 until now. But as I said, accordingly to the previous owner the cooler is updated to a cooler with 2 cores or something and therefor the temperature might have been changed as well. He told be that its always just under 190.

I also read that if I turn the AC off, the fans dont come on until later, and I probably had the AC off the first time because the roof was off, and I might have had the second time also, so I will have to try if keeping the AC on will help.

I am afraid this is where I am as well. My buddy bought a kit to do his C6, so I just need to order the parts and do the work to remove the rack and pin the new balancer.

I have left the car with a mechanic so we will see what he thinks. Before I took the car there I tried to see if I could narrow it down a bit. The noise was louder from the passenger side so I tried to spray some inside that pulley and the squealing was instantly a bit quieter, so hopefully it will be fixed after he changes that one.

Just a final update. Changed the pulley I mensioned above and that solved the problem. The coolant level was a bit low and the temp has not been a problem since I topped that up either

Didn't Corvette Racing go with a Fluidamper just a few years ago? I seem to recall this was written about in Race Engine Technology.

Just take the two belts off and spin the pulleys. If they Free spin or you hear the bearings moving around then I would repkace them....I had a bad squeal when cold just like yours...My ac pulleys were shot and in this case I did change the harmonic balancer as it did wobble pretty bad. This was 112,000 miles......my 14k mile c5 had a squeak when cold and it WAS the ac pulleys for sure......just did both cars a week ago
