Fuel Filter Removal

Fuel Filter Removal
In the process of changing my fuel filter.... can't get the filter off of the hard tube (output) side. I assume the tube is flared, and the filter pulls off with a yank? (Looking at the new filter, appears four little "prongs" hold it on once over the flare?)
My new filter did not come with any kind of rubber washer or gasket... should it have?

Did mine two Sundays ago and it fought me hard. Had to modify my quick disconnect tool but I got it out. 
The output side has little o rings in the filter, I'd just double check em to make sure they aren't crooked or anything. The other side I'm not 100% sure how its sealed but I think its in the hoses that are on the car.
