Wanting to put stock air box back on 03 C5. What years will fit? I know 2001-2004 are the same and will fit. I've searched all day and haven't found the answer.
I have a whole airbox/bridge assembly that I just took off my 03 if you need it. PM me and we'll work something out.
I dunno if this is appropriate or not, actually. If it's not, my apologies.
I've got one found if it is for the right year. Right now I'm not sure what year it is off of. If it is not the right one, I'll pm you and we'll work something out. Thanks!
I put a 02-04 Z06 air box on my 98 hope this helps you out.
I think physically they will fit. Did you have to mod anything?? They opened them up to breath better in 2001, from what I've read. So, I don't think you would want to put a 98 on a 2003. I don't know any of this from actual experience, just what I've read on here or other sites. Trying to learn so I get right the first time.

Right on.
For what it's worth, I did a little digging and compared part numbers using the schematics at gmpartshouse, and from 2001-2004, the air intake parts are the same (accounting for some differences between LS1 and LS6), so you ought to be alright with anything you find to use within that range. Check it out.
All the air boxes will fit but there are differences from 97-00 to 01-04.
01-04 boxes are "front fed" with Z06s having a larger opening. 97-00 boxes are "side fed" via a set of four tubes running inside the underside of the top lid.
I **believe** there is also a minor difference in how the fresh hose mounts to the bottom part of the filter base but going off memory I can't exactly recall.

I thought I had read this before. Thanks for the confirmation!

Im not on here to tell you what too do with your car. I understand if you want to go back to stock. When the C5 first came out i read everything i could find on the car because i was about to ordered one. Every article i read about the car said that the air box was highly restrictive and if GM in the following years were to change it that you should insist that they replace yours. They never did. So it was the first thing i changed on my car. I don't know if 97- 00 will fit your car but they are very similar.

I'm here to learn so preach on!! They changed them in the 01-04 models, still, I've read where the C6 box is a good upgrade. I've got a Vararam on it now and they are junk as far as fitment is concerned. If you tighten the hose clamps up good and tight, it collapses the plastic tubes, that and the air filter box itself doesn't fit very well either. They claim to have improved them, but in my opinion they went to market with them way too soon and were way over priced for as junky as they are. They should have used better plastic instead of the budget stuff......way too soft and squishy.

The outlet seems to be larger on the 2001 - 2004, compared to the 2000 outlet. I suppose the outlet size difference is the MAF size difference.
A Z06 outlet was way too big to fit my 2000.
I am too looking for a '99 -2000 air box. A forum member has one for $100, but that is much more than I want to spend, although it WAS in excellent condition.
I too want to go back to stock (with the zip tie trick) to satisfy NCCC class regulations.

This is what i put on my car in early 98. At the time there was not a lot to choose from. It is an improvement over stock. These are life time K&N filters and they are 19 years old. I have gone too the LS6 intake, LS6 MAF, larger tunnel ram over the rad. and B&B PRT cat back exhaust and a tune with a cooler thermostat.

That is really what I'd like to do. I have the Magnaflow exhaust. My car runs good. I can't beat a C6, but I can hang close...kinda like a stock C5 does against me. I expect a little power loss with a change to the stock intake, but that's O.K. with me.
I have a '99, and replaced my stock with a new Vararam. I disagree with the comment above regarding fitment. Mine fits perfect. I also javr their power duct, so maybr that's the difference?
Anyway, when I ordered it, they specifically asked the year. I think it may havr had something to do with a sensor (between the airbox and MAF)? I could be wrong.

Perhaps I should have stated, mine is an old Vararam. They've made some changes. The early ones were junk. I can prove it. And mine is all Vararam from the TB to fog light holes.

I didn't do anything to it. It mounted up no problems. I did paint it red though to match my car..

Not exactly sure what you are looking for. I took off my chrome version of the double K&N and installed Vararam. I have no need for the K&N. PM me if interested as it is only taking up space in my garage.
