Default Tires

I just picked up a 1999 C5 in a pretty good deal. This vehicle needs tires and I wanted to ask here first before I found a manual to go download. Much different then my C4, this vehicle has graduated wheels...as the back seem to be 18's and the front has 17's...and the tires on it are all goofy, directional on the front and they aren't on the right way, etc.

So, suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

Go to TireRack and purchase non-runflats.

Personally, I run Michelins on all 3 of my sport cars. The stick like glue and are made in the good ol USA

Continental Extreme Contact Sport. These are great tires, have em on my 02Z and have no complaints.

Did you check the stamp on them?
Michelin produces tires in France, Poland, Spain, Germany, the USA, the UK, Canada, Brazil, Thailand, Japan, Italy and several other countries.

I drove 200 miles in a downpour a few years back. I have Bridgestone Potenzas. They are fantastic in the rain.

You're going to get a lot of opinions on which tires to go with. I run Hankook Ventus V12 EVOs on my car and really like them. And they won't break the bank when you purchase a set.

Just put the Conti extreme contact sport on mine. I haven't driven in the rain yet, but I chose them because the reviews were very positive about their wet grip.

Yup, front tires on the Vette are France, all the rest are USA
Also, if you look at the web link I provided, it states where they are made under "Specs", most of the Michelins for the Corvette are made in the USA

I went with Hankook. Get a price from Tire Rack and have a local supplier match or beat the price to avoid issues with their questionable installer pricing.

To the OP.
Just remember, what ever tires you buy, because C5 Corvettes have staggered sizes, the warranty is cut in half because staggered tires can't be rotated.
So if you buy a tire with a 40,000 mile warranty, the mfg will only warrant it for 20,000 miles.
Bob.
