Makes we wonder even with longtubes, how much performance gain is attributable to the tune versus the longtubes themselves.

What about the longtube design versus the stock exhaust manifolds increases the performance THAT much? I understand that flow is better, but what specifically makes that flow significantly better compared to the stock manifolds?

I just did long tubes and haven't tuned. The difference is night and day from stock. A lot more torque down low, and just screams through the upper revs. If a tune is going to gain me even more, then I can hardly wait.

^^ Compare that to stock manifolds. lol (LG 1 3/4" LT's)

for the sound mine make, I wouldn't even care if they didn't add any power at all and they would still be worth it.

My car made 376/386 with them, which should put me around base ls3 power/torque when stock. I'm plenty happy with it.

I installed this week a set of BBK shorty headers. They were easy to install were as some of the long tube installs I have read are like a horror story. The price was great $400. They were ceramic coated. I can really tell the heat removed from engine bay. They sound better than the stock manifolds. They are lighter.
Also I have a 98 so my stock were highly restrictive like old chevy logs. If you have the 2001 or newer I would not change as the look like shorties already.

Take this for what it's worth......

I have sold, installed, and repaired, and suffered with EVERY SINGLE CORVETTE HEADER EVER MADE...

DO NOT EVER CONSIDER WASTING YOUR TIME OR MONEY BUYING ANYTHING EXCEPT...

AMERICAN RACING HEADERS

IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER..... YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Spend the few extra bucks and BUY THE BEST STUFF MADE.

You bought your corvette to ENJOY IT....

NOTHING ELSE COMPARES TO AMERICAN RACING HEADERS. PERIOD.

In defense of Chuck, it's sort of the way he expresses himself.

I have to admit, I've got the ARH on my Viper and I helped install sets on two C6's......no issues. I've had the ARH's on my Viper for 7 years, Jet Hot coated black and they still look like the day I installed them.

I'm not sure I've seen any documentation from Billy Boat regarding their shorty headers, but if they really have a system that works as they claim I'd like to see the following:

Stock 2002-2004 C5 Z06 dyno'd before and after a tune.

Install the B&B shorty headers and dyno before and after a tune.

Although I understand this would be difficult to do, the most important number that really matters to me would be 1/4 mile speed through the traps. I know atmospheric conditions would be hard to replicate, but if it can be shown that the B&B system actually increases your trap speeds over stock, that is much more impressive to me than dyno numbers. The strip don't lie, lol.

You sir, understand when I make the statements I do....

Maybe Nobody cares for "how I express myself".....

But... Again, have a vast experience beyond your average consumer or low volume shop.....

And, feeling the need to make a bold statement that will hopefully save many, many people lots of wasted time and money.....

ONLY PUT AMERICAN RACING HEADERS in your vehicle.... Not because I sell them.....

But, I sell them because they are SIMPLY THE BEST.

Buy Junk if you're so inclined, or take the advice of an EXPERT who is trying to give you sound FREE advice.

Why is it even an issue???? Do you own the company that manufactures the inferior junk????

Good advice is always FREE from me.

You don't need to take it. My feelings won't be hurt.
