I looked at my build sheet on my '03 and noticed the time is 5:58 which struck me as a bit odd, I wouldn't have thought they started working that early - but I have no idea what the plant assembly hours are. All I can see is they work a single 8 hour shift, so does that start at 6 AM and go to 2 PM? Or did they print the build sheet hours before they actually started putting the cars together? I always thought the build sheet was printed as the car was going down the line.
I think that printed time is when the information is put into a computer system and not the actual time that the assembly line actually starts to build a car. I had heard that the Julian Date on the build sheet could be 2-3 days prior to the build start.
I've never paid attention if they have multiple shifts, but my neighbor works 8-5 there. But most people have been laid off while the plant is shut down & his job right now is to literally clean up after the contractors renovating the buildings, so these might just be temporary hours for him
I just went through the plant in late May. Most of the crew works one shift, some two shifts, and the Z06 engine builders works three shifts. Of course that's the C7, no idea what was going on back in 1997-2004.
From what I thought, depending on demand of the amount of cars needed to produce they will work a longer shift if needed. They don't speed up the line. It always is at the same speed.
