Vinyl wrap roof?
Infrequent poster, daily reader here. I have a 2003 MY Z, 100% stock down to the shifter, etc. It's easily the most fun car I've ever owned, and glad I went the Z06 route when I decided to buy. However, and I must admit, I like the looks of the base C5 more than the Z. However, I don't like the looks of the base nearly as much if the roof panel is the same color as the car. So I'm wondering, has anyone ever (or seen) a Z or FRC where the roof was wrapped black and still leaving a halo? Votes on if this would look absolutely ridiculous? Trust me, I won't be offended, but when I pass other C5s on the road (yes a wave is involved lol) as they may be envying the fact mine is a Z, I am envying the fact I think they have the better looking C5. Thanks!! Jeff

Vinyls not to expensive, try it on yours and if you like it keep it. I've never seen a half wrapped frc.
You do get the "looks like a convertible with the top up" kind of look on the FRC style. IMO GM designed the C5 aesthetically most pleasingly with the standard coupe configuration, the Z06 had to do away with some of that to offer the higher standard of performance/handling that it's capable of. Don't get me wrong, I think the Z06 and FRC style looks great, but for these kinds of mods I think the coupes have it all day (Personally I think this kind of mod works best on C6's or newer). If it were me, I'd look at doing a carbon fiber wrap on the roof + pillars but would need to be a glossy kind of wrap.

I've been fooling with vinyl wrap for about a year now. I had a Z, and now have a coupe and understand all that's been stated design wise. IMO, the problem with what you propose is that there is no 'break' in the Z roof like in a coupe. If you were to do a vinyl color that allowed you to do perhaps a contrasting pinstripe, you might be able to create that 'break line'. I've been playing with vinyl wrapping my top and halo. A number of white cars have been done like that and it's really nice. I have a pewter car, but I'm a 'contrary' when it comes to typical combinations, so I have some vinyl in darker version of my body color, that I might play with if I have enough left over from my radio bezel.
I think the silver car above looks great, it looks natural and complements the shape of the car.
Do you have an established color scheme? If not, maybe there's another color that will go with the yellow instead of black. One piece of advice, Di-noc is the 'fad' CF vinyl lately and it does look great, however I had a problem with it and called 3M. They told me it's not designed for vehicle use. Their other product, called 1080 is the proper vinyl for automobiles.
