Question about 2004 CF Hood
Do all 2004 Z06 cars have the carbon fiber hood, or is that a part of the Z-16 package?
Thanks!

Can't recall what package does, but my 04 does not have a CF hood.

Just the Z-16. It was part of the Commerative Edition package.

Cool - thanks!
Is it easy to identify the hood as CF, just to confirm that all the correct equipment is there when looking at a car?
It's painted underneath, correct?

I believe it is painted underneath and there is the hardboard felt cover on it too. So have to check the hood outside.

Oh! Perfect! I thought that was a part of the graphic and didn't realize it was the CF hood itself.
Thanks!

Your first assumption was correct. The CF look on the hood graphic is just that, a graphic to indicate that the hood is made of CF.

Does anyone know exactly how much weight savings there is between the carbon fiber hood and fiberglass hood?

So, you can take a fiberglass hood, paint it to match and add the decals, and you would not be able to tell the difference?
Is there a way to confirm the CF hood without taking it off and weighing it? Is there a part number on the underside somewhere?

Just opening the hood you can tell the difference.

The carbon hood is surprisingly light. I can honestly say I didn't expect to have it be quite so obvious. When you open it it feels quite a lot lighter. You'll know it when you do.

Even if I could afford them, what would be the chances they'd get to AZ unmolested...my Z16 was in a little fender bender before I bought it and the owner opted for a standard hood painted to look the part.
