Hi folks. I'm a former C5 owner now driving a C7 coupe. Always enjoyed my C5 (which was also a coupe) but wished it had an iPod input. Would now like to buy an additional C5 convertible if there is some way to add the iPod input to the factory audio system. Is that possible? Any suggestions? If not, I'll be searching for an 08 or later C6 convertible. Want to keep everything pretty much stock, so not interested in an after market stereo.
It can be done, about $60-$70 and roughly 30 minutes of your time. Less time if your car has the optional 12 disc changer. You just hit the CD/Aux button twice and boom, you're playing aux through your speakers.

Thanks fellas. Good to hear that it is indeed possible. Back when I had my C5 I was told by 2 local car audio shops that it couldn't be done. Probably not a job I would be comfortable trying myself however. Fearful of messing up the dash or surrounding trim when removing the radio from the front panel. (Although I will continue to explore the procedure)
There isn't really much to mess up as the console comes out before removing the radio. There 4 10mm nuts and maybe 6 Phillips screws holding the console if I remember correctly. Once that's out there isn't anything else left to mess up. Instructions on console removal are on You tube

I remember something about an anti-theft feature on the radio. Think that may be one of the reasons why the local audio shops said it couldn't be modded for an iPod input. Is there some security code or something that would need be recorded and reset? And if so, where would that be found?

I don't recall having to do anything special when i installed my adaptor. But if there is an anti-theft thing, I imagine it would be in the owners manual.
I bought the above item in post 7 from Dennis at DOUBLE D MODS I had it in my 04 for over 5 years worked great with no problems. Install was easy with great directions. What I liked about adapter from Double D Mods was that you can still use radio controls While having IPhone hooked up such as ff, next, etc. I was able to have cable go into console storage area with out drilling any holes. Also charges phone while hooked up to adapter. The theft code as I remember didn't play a factor with adapter . Theft code was a pin you entered that if radio was stolen would not be able to unlock and use unless you had pin code. I had mine pin code set and adapter worked great.Dave
