my 2004 Coupe does not have run flat tires. As you might have seen from my previous posting, I have purchased new wheels for the car and am in a mental debate about just buying new tires, or using what are on it. I drive the car once or twice a week for pleasure during the summer only! I'm leaning towards buying new run-flats either the OEM Goodyears or Michelin. What are the thought here?
Thanks

Run flats will be a lot less comfortable ride. There's no way I would put them on my 2000, but to each their own. Run flats do give you the security of knowing you wont get stranded.

Unless you have a blowout, then you are in the same boat as non flat users.
That's the thing; run-flat or not if you have a blow-out or serious sidewall damage you're going to be on a flat bed regardless. I simply carry around a small 12v compressor. Any tire that has a leak or small puncture can simply be aired up enough to get to service.
Just get a 12v compressor and up your AAA membership. The ride improvements alone are worth ditching the run-flats.
I really considered run flats too, and still might someday, but for now, I've become "comfortable" just carrying a plug kit, compressor, and CAA (Canadian AAA LoL).
I went with G-force comp2 A/S for my C5. It had run flats that I didn't like the feel of. As other do I carry a plug kit and compressor and roadside assistance. I am running 18/19 sizes.
New Michelin run-flats are great, including the ride and give me peace of mind. It's easy to say I carry repair kits and pumps, etc. as long as you never have to use it.
If you don't mind repairing a tire on the side of the highway in the evening then go for it. Michelin's by the way are not that much more then most non run-flats. Maybe around $200-350 total, which is not much more after loading your trunk with all of the repair kit stuff you need to buy and carry.
I believe most on this forum disagree with me on this subject, but you asked for opinions so that's what I gave you!
They ride like crap and are not cheap and can still leave you on side of the road ,but if in the middle nowhere can get to somewhere . A bud got a flat in the middle of nowhere years back the run flats did get him to a safe place . I hope this helped .. How do you drive were do you drive ,do you mind paying the extra money and they don't ride as good as no -flats .. So its up to you ...
