Default 2,500 mile Shakedown drive

I just flew from Toronto to Los Angeles to purchase a 1999 Supercharged coupe. The plan is to spend a few days with my wife and baby, who will be flying home on the 6th while I start the long drive back to Toronto .

i picked up the car today and have identified a few things to address before I go. Hopefully I'll figure out the a.c. leak as it's over 100 degrees at the moment. First spirited drive along Angeles Crest highway was incredible. Beautiful road and the car is enormously powerful.

I'll be driving home through Vegas, Utah, Denver, Omaha and Chicago.

if anyone has any pointers / insight (speed enforcement, road hazards etc.), I would welcome the feedback.

Congrats on the new to you C5. Should be nice drive home. It is hot here right now for sure. Hopefully the A/C leak is as easy to fix as changing out the low and high pressure fill/test valves. Those O rings flatten out over time and can cause a leak.

You should know better. A modified car can't possibly be reliable enough to drive that far without breaking

seriously though, congrats and drive safe!

Congrats on the purchase. I grew up in Nebraska so when you get to the Colorado/Nebraska boarder heading east be ready for some really flat real estate. I80 is pretty boring.

Don't drive at night, unless the PO upgraded the lights.

If you still are in los angeles, I would recommend the drive up to crystal lake, nice hour long round trip and some nice views once you get to the top. Not too far north of the 210. Hopefully you can get that a/c fixed. Can't imagine not having working A/C on a hot summer drive.
Would also recommend a radar detector for a drive like that lol. Enjoy the new ride! Should be a fun drive home

Good luck on the trip and stay safe. Hope you can get the A/C sorted out before you have to start on the long drive home.

I agree. Just drove this with the family a few weeks ago. Be sure to fill up the tank before going across the entire state. Not a whole lot immediately off the interstate in some parts.
