Massachusetts auto inspections are putting the hammer down on Hot Rods.

This is going to make it tough for a lot of car lovers beginning October 1st 2017

Yep, I'm aware of it. It figures our wonderful state would be the first to further restrict our liberties and cost people more money. a good friend of mine owns an inspection station and it's costing him alot of money and time to implement it. Equipment and labor costs. Another good reason not to even bother getting the inspections done. I'll take my chances.

I registered my Z06 at my FL house for this reason. That and, I'll be moving down there permanently in the spring anyway. This state has become a joke. Can not wait to get out of here.

Next door in Vermont where my summer home is there are ****s and Libtards who created similar inspection criteria. I may be forced to put Florida registration on my summer car to avoid the new requirements. The only down side is my insurance will go up on that vehicle.

I can see CT doing this one day soon. That and the ridiculous second amendment gun laws in CT, I may soon be moving to TX.

if your car is stock, why are you worried about it?

So how will owners in MA register say kit cars and specialty builds? This is why sometimes these sort of rules are silly and/or redundant. If you specify in inspection laws little to no deviation from OEM in ride height and sound then how do you determine what's correct if you build a 427 Cobra replica or a FF GTM when there is nothing official to go off of?

There are indeed some downsides to living in states without inspections such as tons of idiots driving around in cars that are missing body panels and lighting due to accidents, but on the flip of that I'm really glad I don't have to deal with inspections here.

Just add an Obama sticker to your bumper and you'll be fine. I'm thinking of starting a petiion to have a sanctury city for modded cars.

I'm glad OH did away with vehicle inspections. They wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if they didn't go overboard with them, but they always do. I could see them failing a vehicle with bad brakes, or something else that was safety related, but I've heard the horror stories of them failing vehicles for something as simple as a check engine light...certainly a C5 with a bad EBCM (and associated code) would be failed...

Thanks for asking. My 02 vert is stock and lives in Florida at my permanent residence where there are no required inspection or emission testing. I have another vehicle that stays up north at my summer home that has state inspections challenges. (although unrelated to mods) To get a sticker in Vermont all TPMS have to be working and no check engine lights can be visible. They pull the codes and look for an opportunity to empty your wallet even when items are unrelated to safety or emissions.

This is exactly what I was talking about...how is a non working TPMS a safety issue? A person can't check their tire pressure with a tire gauge? These inspections are nothing but a government sponsored money grab...

TPMS? should have bought a z06 I guess

here in NC we can't have a CEL or various other safety related issues, though TPMS isn't relevant.

I dont really get Why people complain about not being allowed to have a CEL. Your check engine light is on? Fix your car. The light is there for a reason.

I remember southern California in the late 60s and early 70s. The San Gorgonio mountain range -- and even the Hollywood sign -- were lost in a thick blanket of smog. Now, after 30 years of enforced pollution controls, you can see the mountains again and there aren't public warnings of air quality so bad school kids need to be kept inside at recess.
