i only can wish i had a 02 or 02 z06, those cars just kick so mich behind its not even funny, im new to this forum, had to sign up cuz i just love the vette. although i am happy with my f body, the vettes just amaze me. i cant wait til i can afford one, im only 18 so it could be a while. just have to know, how do they handle? been my dream to drive one.

Welcome to the Forum. IMO,The difference is night & day between my 99 SS & my Z06 :D The F-bodies have great power. I grew up driving them & I love Them. I will always keep mine. The Z06 is a whole different Animal :eek: :D Handling & braking is just incrediable, I mean like on Rails! Shifting thru the gears is more sure & Steeper. The Cam has lots more above 4k compared to the SS. The SS is righteous,The Vette is KING. :jester Cecil

If you have a 2002 TA WS6 at 18 then it is pretty safe to say that you are doing a lot better than I was at 18.

I just traded in a "02 T/A Ram Air WS6" for an 01 Z06, much differences no regrets here.

I have a couple or three Vettes and one 98 Z-28 with the LS-1.

The Z-28 is ok and it drives pretty good.
Ride is a LOT softer than the Z06. It has about half of the "push you into the seat" phenomenon of the Z06.

Actually any of the Vettes are more fun to drive but that's just me.
If I had only the Z-28 I'm SURE I'd think it to be grrrreeeaaattt.

The Z06 is pretty mild mannered below 3500 rpm in the first few gears.
Going OVER 4000 rpm turns it into a MONSTER! It doesn't growl, it roars.
At WOT the Z-28 snarls and growls pretty good. But unless the road is wet it doesn't try to do a "departure" on you.
Wet road is a whole "nuther" story as the F-Body seems to be very light in the rear.
It needs a couple of hundred pound sand bags in the trunk.

On the Z06, going round corners at a little over max slip angle when the tires bite back you need to have your seat belt fastened when the super car tires regain traction. It'll just about throw you out the window. They bite HARD.

It's easy to oversteer the Z-28 or the Z06 with throttle application.
You can oversteer at will in either but the Z-28 just doesn't seem to get traction back until you come all the way out of the throttle.
It really needs more rear bite.

If you've got a WS6 Pony enjoy it! There's not a whole lot of cars that'll give you much trouble.

If I had my choice between them I'd pick the Z06.
Vettes are "just the stuff".

I see little kids in mini vans with their noses plastered to the window at traffic signals.
Then I'll see them tell little brother or big brother to look. They'll be pointing at the Vette. These things are headturners most anywhere you go.
I see teenagers in ricers ease up for a look and turn around to tell their buddy in the back seat; "look, that a Z06 CORVETTE, man we don't want to mess with THAT!!".
I see old grey haired farts (I DO have some grey hair too, I'm 52) looking at the Vette from their sled Oldsmobiles. I can tell their thinking they wish they'd got one of those things before they got too old to enjoy it.
It's just a grand feeling driving a Vette.
You'll notice you get a LOT more attention driving a Vette.

Save up, trade in and get yourself one. You won't regret it.

jeff69 what did the dealer set you back for the 01 Z, my friend is looking at the same swap and the dealer wants$18K plus his 02 - WS6(loaded with SLP) & low miles. Do you think it is worth it?? :confused: :confused: :confused:
