check engine light
CEL came on in my 2005 vette had auto zone check it, code said purge valve , changed it, CEL still on, read had to go through driving cycle before light would go off . Can someone explain the driving cycle? Like to know if I fixed the problem with that part, if so when will CEL go off?

There are other variables.
After you clear the computer you need to drive up to 100 miles to give it a chance to monitor all the sensors and register the results. Sometimes it may be complete in about 50 miles. You'll know when you connect the scanner and check the status. It tells you if ready or not ready.

The code will need to be erased .. Just buy an OBD2 scanner for 40 bucks and clear it your self . After the light is reset you have to drive it a 100 miles for the drive cycle or the other option is to pull the negative battery cable for a minute. The bitch is you lose your presets.

Cold Start: ECT/IAT 36-93F & within 14 degrees of each other.
Baro should be over 75kPa
Accelerate to 45 until closed loop. Drive 3 min more.
EVAP Monitor should run
