I'm having problems with the seatbelt ratcheting mechanism. (I already did a search and could find no answer) The passenger side one seems possessed. If you pull it too fast, it locks. If you gently release, then pull gently it locks. If you start out gentle, it locks. Very frustrating when I want to take an enjoyable ride with my wife.
I would take the time to slowly and carefully fully extend the belt from the retractor and check for debris that may have dropped into the mechanism and/or for folds in the belt that can prevent its smooth operation.... One recent post about seat belts resulted in the thread starter becoming a slight bit richer from the coins that he retrieved............
Pull the plastic cover off the side of the car and expose the seat belt mechanism. Look for things that are NOT suppose to be in there.
Your messing with a life safety part and IF, simple inspection and cleaning doesn't repair the issue, I HIGHLY recommend finding a good used part that works properly.
Contact MARC at VETTENUTS. He has high quality used C5 parts and I'm sure can get you back on the road safe and sound.
