My seats (memory option) abruptly quit working. Checked the seat circuit breaker (passenger foot-well fuse box) and the CB was hot.... too hot to handle. Removed it with pliers. Once it cooled I re-installed it, and the seat worked.
Obviously something wrong..... so pulled the CB until I can determine why it overheated and popped.
Electric seat switch problems is NOT uncommon on the C5. The switch is known to "stick" in the on position causing a constant draw that would heat up the circuit breaker. The switch is all electronic and there really isn't anything serviceable in there.....
Thanks. My seat has the "exit" mode, which was on. I had stopped and turned the car off.... and as usual the seat "parked" itself in the far-aft position. Perhaps the seat switch stuck "on" after the seat hit the extreme rear position. I couldn't move the seat when I returned to the car..... and as I said, the CB was open and hot.
So, I have turned the exit mode off. Seems to me, if the seat switch sticks "on" after using it to move the seat.... it would continue to move to the extreme... either fore or aft. If so, then I should be able to tell if the switch is sticking by keeping the seat between the extremes..... and of course noticing if it continues to move after shutting off the car. Make sense, or am I missing something?
