I replaced headlight gear successfully, just noticed now when on rough roads the headlight assembly moves or vibrates which it never did before gear replacement. What did I miss or do wrong, anyone. Rob
Thanks 8VETTE7...I have them in place for sure. I thought they were worn out but on closer inspection seen they were split bushings. Was very careful to have them in place...real mystery. I truly thankyou for your help. I will do a direct comparison to other unmolested headlight assembly...hopefully come up with solution. Greetings my friend. Rob
Well I am not the only one with no answer to the fix on checking the net. The headlight assembly is tight up to the pivot pin upon which the headlight assembly rotates when opening/closing. (It is silver colored, about 1/4" in diameter and approx 3" long and is positioned in a horizontal manner in the mechanism. It uses a flat metal "push-on" type washer over the end of it to keep it from falling out) Anyone have an answer how to tighten up the pivot pin assembly. I am sure many members are wondering the same. Just has to be a simple fix.
Now the only thing I did when re -assembly is turn over the bump stops (because of a worn ridge from use) this created a new head light stop position short of what it was previously! I wonder if I turned bump stop to worn area again if this will solve bucket movement? That would prove that new bump stops and extra hard stops are NOT the fix...
(Sorry about this thread buy I positively have to figure this one out for myself and the many others that have this problem too) Thanks, Rob

Well, that might fix it for your situation but I doubt it will fix everyone's situation. Changing the bump stops didn't change my jiggle. When one moves to HIDs in projectors any jiggle becomes magnified as the clean cutoff will show jiggles much more than the OEM halogens.

Did you ever find a solution or just living with it? Just has to be a fix...and probable an easy one at that, anyone?

JMO,
This is not a new issue, posts on this have been around for at least a decade.
IF there was an EASY fix it would have been found by someone on CF and posted. I don't think it is a single, easy issue. Moving parts wear over time, slop develops. I just looked for areas where moving parts in the headlight assembly had some slop and figured out a way to reduce that slop.
I never noticed any jiggle on my 99 that I bought about 13 years ago until I removed the OEM headlight housing assemblies and installed my first set of ACA projectors with HID low beams. The ACA housings were much lighter than the OEMS and this lightness may also have magnified any jiggle. Also, the ACA projectors produced a very sharp cut-off line which also magnified any jiggle.
I read every post on reducing jiggle I could find and combining them all reduced the visible jiggle to a level that doesn't annoy me.
When I sold my 99, I removed the ACAs and reinstalled the OEM housings. I also made all the changes to my new to me 03 that I had done on my 99. Now I have duel projector SunGuns that may be lighter than the ACA assemblies were.
