Default Leaking Butt Syndrome

My C5 has the leaking seal on the LH side differential. I already have it schedule for some mods at Tony's Corvette. They will address the seals while it's in for mods. No big deal. I'm worried I will damage it if I drive it 30 mins to the shop. I'm thinking worst case scenario here. Is it advisable to top off the diff fluid without draining completely or would I be alright?

I appreciate the feedback.

I would get it up in the air and check it. If it's been leaking a long time it could be down significantly. Pull the fill plug and stick your finger in and curl it down. If you can't feel fluid, I would add until you can. Whatever type of rear diff fluid you have in there, you should use the same.

If you are going to have the seal replaced, just make sure that there is fluid in the trans before the trip as suggested by capevettes.

Just use any 75/90 for the top off and have the shop drain and refill with fresh GL5 75/90 while it on the rack.

Now's a great time to also change the tranny fluid too.

If it an auto, New fluid and filter.

If its an MN6/MN12, some ANSOIL ATF will make it happy!!
