Default lost key

You will most likely need the title/proof of ownership and your ID. Be sure the names match...

Just call a locksmith. Way cheaper than a stealership. They'll know what to do. They be in your "locked" car in a few seconds. Maybe your lost key is in the car??

The locksmith may be able to cut you a new key. Please post up what your final resolution is though.

No, the key was lost after the car was parked... But like, I have no key of any kind and no fobs. When I bought the car it only had the one key...

exact same thing happened to me. I called a mobile lock Smith, however. I had a dummy key so he was able to make a working copy, and then use a scanner tool and program the car key to turn the car on.

since you have 0 keys, dealership may be your only option. Since you can't open the car to get the tags out (Your gonna need the registration with vin #) and photo i.d. you still haveto call the locksmith to open your car....

once you do all of that and get your new key buy yourself one of these....

They work really well... those hung over mornings when I can't find my keys or my wallet (yup both) are no more... just don't loose your phone

Sure they will, but bring plenty of $$$ with you... Why don't you just call the stealership and ask them how much this is going to cost? Then call the locksmith and ask the same question? This is not something new, it's happened before.

Dealership vs. Locksmith...let us know the prices you're quoted. Just curious about how much is the price difference.

unless you have the title of the car hidden in your house somewhere, most people leave the registration paper inside the glove box of the car if they don't have the title. It's kinda the law to drive with your registration in the car. Your car is locked.do you have the title in your house somewhere. If so good. Go head right over to the dealership they will make you a 300$ key+fob no problem.

agreed but... I don't think any regular locksmith can just make keys appear out of nowhere just by giving them a vin number... that would be a scary thought. Any one could make keys to your car then. There are a few who can forsure.

BTW OP click down there have a look at that thread.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...w-key-but.html

you could order the correct key for cheap and have the dealer just cut it for you too. Check out that C5 thread above.

go ahead and order a couple keys from ebay and have them ready when the locksmith is there...he can setup your new keys on the same service call.

Why would anyone have only one key for any car?
I mean seriously, do a bit of thinking ahead.
The dealership can use your VIN to cut new key with correct pellet.
