Default Gauge Cluster Stopped Working

I tried to do some searching and did find a couple of threads with similar issue, but not a solution.

Past couple months, my gauges and HUD would work and then wouldn't work. When not working the HUD would display "--". The odd part is my signals, seat belt light and check engine light always works no matter what. I noticed at one point bigger bumps would typically cause them to reset. Most of the time I can "love tap" the top of the dash and they'd come on. They'd typically work when I leave for work in the morning and all the way there, it was during the day after work I'd turn them on with a 50/50 shot of them working when I turned the key. For past 2 days, they fail to come on at all. I've checked the cluster plug and fuses with no luck.

Since they haven't worked in the morning I have noticed a couple of other things. When you open the door the door panel illumination comes on as the HVAC lights up. But the door panel illumination doesn't come on come on with the the engine running and headlights on while driving, but HVAC still illuminates.

My guess is either the cluster has a loose solder joint (I haven't pulled it yet) or I have a bad ground some where. I tend to lean towards the bad ground. Just wanted to ask on here if anyone has come across this issue before and know of a solution, I'd rather not have the headache to get a used cluster and get my mileage programmed if it's something I can solve.

Thanks for any advice!
