Ok, I have tried the owners manual and the search function to no avail! I was trying to install new bulbs it the trunk and inadvertently blew a fuse, at least that is what I think. The interior lights no longer work along with the cargo lights. There are a lot of fuses to check and with my luck one of them will break if I have to take them all out to check (Murphy's Law). If some one could help me out with the location of the fuse I would appreciate it!! It is a 2002 vert. Thanks in advance!!

while you are figuring this out please see if they are on two fuses, half my lights dont work.

There are NOT 2 fuses so if half your courtesy lights work and half do not you have either blown bulbs, a wiring issue or a grounding issue. Front courtesy lights are grounded at SP 201 and G201 for the left side and SP202 and G202 for the right side. The rear courtesy lights are grounded at SP302 and G302 for BOTH sides.
Here are a couple links for the ground info for the C5:
excellent thanks, as soon as my old man back stops hurting I will nose around some
how does the rear view mirror lights tie in to this ? the center low light level works but the two side LED lights do not work. and i cant quite figure out how the led buld comes out

If fuse #2 or relay 37 are problematic I would expect the other bulbs on the circuit to also be out.
The center flood light on the mirror is powered by fuse #21 so a completely different circuit than the outer two bulbs on the mirror.
If you need the circuit diagrams I can post them for both the mirror and the courtesy lights above.
well now that sounds exactly like what i have going on.....thanks i will look and report back

i agree and i hope you dont mind me chiming in with my light issue....so i checked the fuse and it looks good....now to figure out how to check to see if my relay is working.

the fuse is good....the relay is also good. when I power the relay up the relay clicks and i have continuity between 87 and 30. take power away and the relay opens and i lose continuity.
so I removed the hood light and tested it and the light bulb works....
those circuit diagrams would be very helpful, i wonder where the harness snaps together for those lights?
and the low level rear view mirror works just fine, and i cant tell if the mirror self dimming feature works or not. and I could not find the glove box light???
thanks bob

This reminds me, I just changed out my visors lights to leds... well I blew something they don't work no more, neither do my lights on my mirror. I should've pulled the fuse first, I crushed the lights with needle nose pliers then pulled them out by the filament hairs sticking out lmao.

Has the passenger foot well ever been wet? I have seen corrosion on the BCM board from clogged udders or clogged AC condensate tube cause similar issues.
thanks I appreciate all your help.
I will study the diagram, the car is in pretty nice shape and has no evidence of ever having been wet but it has been in other hands for the first 12+ years. I will have to look at the udders and the BCM connections. i have some research to do on that front
i believe i did hear the relay click one of the times when i pushed it in place so would that indicate the ground path from the BCM was working properly? can i check that ground path with an ohm meter from one of the female pins
I couldnt find the courtesy light in the glove box. my initial thought was some one disconnected the fuse, relay or physically disconnected a wiring harness to stop a parasitic loss syndrome.
I don't think that I have a light in the glove box either as it is dark in there. I have not really looked around in there though. My hood light has not worked since I have gotten the car, which is ok by me but it seems to be tied to another circuit which is working, I'll have to see if the other lights come on if I just raise the hood. Without looking I wonder if there is a "mercury" switch like some other cars have to turn the hood light on?

looks to me from the schematic that there is a switch in the underhood lamp.....probably like you say a "mercury" switch

Is it possible that someone has converted some of these lights (Under hood and/or glove box) to LED's?? The monitored load circuit was not designed to work with the resistance on many LED's and resistors may need to be added to let the circuit work if LED's without built in resistors were used.
thanks for the info i will look for the glove box light this afternoon afterwork
for sure my rear view mirror Map lights look like they are LEDs. the under hood light I tested is a filament light for sure.
I will look for the under hood light wire connection. and i can figure out the relay PIN set up to see what it is doing

i will report back. thanks bob
i found the bulb/light socket in the glove box and it is in place, and my wire harness connector for the front under hood light is connected.
my test probes are too big for the female pin spots so i will have to use paper clip or welding wire extension. let me study the schematic first so i know whats going on .
even for a long shot i swapped the fuse and relay and it did nothing

so i have sufficiently confused my self...
with the relay OUT my number 2 fuse has power on both sides, i take that to mean the fuse is good and positive 12v is flowing through it. i dont know why it has power with the relay out though?
with the switched part of the relay 87/30 connected mechanically using flattened welding rod in to the two female receptacles. i transfer power from one side to the other but it has no effect on any thing? do i also need to jump the coil part of the relay for some other reason like a relay down stream of that circuit??
totally confused in arlington va.
and what does that courtesy lamp relay control in the BCM? for what its worth most of the other courtesy lights work when you open a door

first let me say thank you very much for taking the time to work through this with me.....
now for the tough part, and yes its tough to admit but....i totally F$$$ed up and pulled a boneheaded move and was looking in the under hood fuse panel above the foot well....when i went to look at the BCM i was embarrassed to find the real foot well fuse box and guess what that #2 fuse was blown, i replaced it and everything works
the good news is that the BCM and that area is spotless no evidence of any water ever....
so since all those old BCM codes have the H next to them and the lights referenced are working fine , is it ok just to ignore them? and does any one order the OEM Omron relays off of Ebay for $5 and keep them with spare fuses?
sorry for the wild goose chase but thanks for sticking with me, bob
