That's crazy! But if the OP got it the way he wanted it, that's all that counts. I like how tastefully it was done, it just turned an average looking C5 into something to drool over.
Like I mentioned in my monologue, all in, I'm probably close to the cost of a well equipped C7 Stingray, but I have C7 Z06 power and I won't see myself coming the other way. Most of the things that I did I would have still done even if I bought a C6 and I would have been thousands more in.
Does the tunnel plate really provide as advertised - 20 to 40 degrees cooler?
I can't tell you that, the inside is completely dynomatted as well. The tunnel plate was more or increased structural rigidity than heat resistance anyway, and I can tell you, it works very well for that. I can have a corner of the car jacked up and still take the top on and off with no problem.
Very cool transformation you did. Looks totally different from when you bought it. I’ve always liked those rocker ducts but just couldn’t bring myself to cut into my car color. Great job.
Thanks, I bought the rocker ducts as a complete rocker panel replacement. The old rockers were a major pain to remove. The only advantage was that this way I was able to insure that the placement was exact.
Exceptionally understated and tasteful. Attention to detail is very well done. I love a quality build that doesn't assault the senses with every aftermarket upgrade/part. Just a fantastic job of blending all the pieces into one cohesive whole.
My question is how do you like the 5 point harness for street driving? Everyone I've used for racing would be an absolute PITA for regular street use. This has to be one of my favorite builds. I'd give you big points as a judge. Congratulations on building your style Vette!

Thanks, I really appreciate the acknowledgment. The harnesses are 4 point. After I get them on, they are actually more comfortable than the factory shoulder belt. The seat shoulder support caused it to come across my neck and it was difficult to reach since it retracted back behind the seat. I ended up taking it out completely.
Do you have any problem throwing codes with the aftermarket alternator or any of the other parts?
The alternator was giving a fault because it is self exciting so there is no plug for the harness. What was interesting is that the factory setting sends a fault to dash info system but it does not generate a code that triggers the check engine light, so my scanner did not pick it up. The only way I found it was cycling through factory codes on the dash and we were able to turn it off with the tuner. It has made a big improvement in an unexpected area. When the car got hot, the voltage dropped, when the voltage dropped the fans slowed down, when the fans slowed down the car got hotter... This has solved that completely and my temps are now staying consistent.
I remember your build thread.
Your build looks awesome.
I cant see why it wouldn't do well at judged shows aside from it being a departure from tradition.
The mods are things that GM could have done and actually ended up doing on later models.

nice ride brother...yea I hear ya...my engine/tranny/exh mods are over 2x the cost of the car but totally worth every penny...now it's time to start tweaking what peeps can see
...same here...ANYONE who says you haven't transformed your Vette to a different but great look is
It looks marvelous....the only thing I have had the guts to do so far is get an MCM S/C high rise hood....but no comparison to what you have done with everything from top to bottom...congradulations Sir !
Lastly...I'm still thrilled with my 1 big mod...heres my plain Jane for a good laugh...
Yes I remember your post, I said then and I think now, your car looks great!
Your Vette looks great!!! I am particularly interested in your Stealth Light Cannons. I live in Fort Mill, SC just south of Charlotte. The stock pop up headlights on my 02 vert are garbage as you probably know. Did you install them yourself?? If not, may I ask who in our area did your install? A super job indeed. I have replaced the nylon gears in my motors and it was a total pain. Don't think I have the skill set to install the light cannons myself. Thanks for any input you can give me!!

The guy that did all the work on my car is in Rock Hill, SC. Taking the old lights off is the hardest part, the RF's go on pretty easy. They are a bit of a pain to aim, but the connections are pretty strait forward, and there is so much more room to work without the headlight motors and gears.
