Default HomeLink Visor Mod Question

Can anyone recommend a HomeLink model or unit that has been integrated into a C5 visor? I know there was a vendor who provided custom-built OEM visors with the HomeLink transmitter built in, however I have already modded my visors with leather from Vette Essentials and not interested in a pre-built visor.

I'm working with a local custom auto upholstery shop who will be removing the vanity mirrors which have both broken at the hinge area (convertible sun-baking is the culprit) and I'm wanting to add a HomeLink unit in the drivers side visor.

I performed some searches and came up with a few different models and trim options, however was curious if someone has already gone down this path and can make any recommendations.

Thanks!

Thanks. Do you know what type of HomeLink unit you used? When I search, I come up with various models.

Also, does the current visor wiring that connects and runs down the A-pillars work for the HomeLink mod or do you need to run separate wiring?

If you read the 2nd link posted above ^ you will have all of the instructions you need (watch the video, open the attached link , etc.). You tap right in to the visor vanity light power, so the wiring is a snap.

The type of Homelink transmitter you need will depend on your particular garage door opener at your house. I needed a rolling code version compatible with my opener model, so that is what I bought. The little plastic cover can easily be painted so I wouldn't even worry about the color when getting one.

The new model HomeLink V5s are pricier than what I was expecting, however they now have back-lit buttons and claim to have more universal compatibility. Shouldn't be an issue considering our SUV has HomeLink built in and it works with our garage doors.
