Default window switch C5

I need a replacement window switch for a 2000 C5 due to a "maintenance induced failure". (I broke it while replacing the regulator).

GMpartsdirect.com has one for $72 (19209381) with the memory function. My existing one does not have the memory function. On GMparts, the one without the memory function is $430 (10318810). YIKES!

The folks at GMparts did not know whether I could use the one with the memory function buttons.

Does anyone know whether I could use the unit with the memory function buttons? Of course, I know that would not give me memory function, but it sure would be a lot cheaper!

My factory service manual is only showing one kind of 26 pin connector for door switches. It is even showing the same connector for the passenger door.
Pins 17-20 (white, purple, dk blue, dk blue with white respectively) used for the memory function. My guess is that it will work and you probably have the same wiring harness.

Check and see if these wire colors match. If so I believe it will work. You will just have two extra buttons at the top of your switch.

Contact Marc Rose over at Vette Nuts. He's a forum vendor / member who runs a Vette Salvage yard. I'm sure he has a nice clean used unit for a HELL OF A LOT LESS then a new unit.

The memory switch will work.I had a spare one and tried it just to see what would happen.Everything worked but as you said, you won't have the memory function.

I bought a memory switch for my non memory car. It works perfect. I asked a seller of the memory switch if it would work on my car. His reply...NO. Guess what? He also sells the non memory switch so his response, I'm sure, was due to that fact. Anyway, it works. Just don't expect your seats to magically have the memory feature.

Adding the memory feature could probably be done with a few more parts. You would need memory door and seat module, a motorized telescoping steering column, and probably a way to program it in to the BCM (like with a Tech2).

I don't really care for the feature that much. Maybe if your 6' 4" and your wife is 5' 2" and you share the car it would be handy. Otherwise it's kind of annoying.
