Last month, a bunch of dealers were offering some 2017 leftovers at crazy low prices. Les Stanford Chevrolet in Detroit had a couple brand new Stingrays for 43k after a GM owner loyalty discount. Check their post from this thread:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1595959052

I looked on their website again, and it looks like the ones for 43k have sold. (no surprise) I was dreaming about a black 7 speed 1LT coupe they had for 43k. They had a torch red and a silver one too IIRC.

That's an amazing price for a C7!

That price is insane. It may be low mileage but an 03 is an 03 is an 03, anniversary edition or not. I bought an 04 vert with 9800 miles a year and a half ago for 20k, all documented.

You can buy a C7 any day for much less than $84K. Check out the prices forum supporting dealers have on their cars - there are some great deals out there.

Good Morning,

We still have 5 of the 2017 Corvettes in Black available. MSRP of $58,250.00. Cars are all automatics with Battery Protectors. If you have a 1999 or newer Chevrolet product in you house hold, they are $46,616.00++. If's Christmas, what could be a better present for you?

I don't care how low the mileage is on that. I'd go get a clean C6Z for that price.

the tires being 15 years old I would imagine they have dry rot cracks in between the tread area, you would think there might be a liability for the dealer since the tires have gone past the recommended dated life, so unless someone buys it to sit there's a $1200 + or - replacement cost right away, nice car though.

Not necessarily. I have original tires on other vehicles that are about 31 and 20 years old. They still look brand new with no signs of cracking inbetween the tread or on the sidewall.

A waste of a good car. The first one built or the last one of a series built might be collectable but for the most part, the others are not. While I enjoy looking at mine as I pass through the garage, the real enjoyment I get is driving it!

Default To Pricey!

The problem you have with a car like this is that you have 2 choices keep it a garage queen never putting any miles on it to try and keep the value up or you drive it and it will depreciate faster than a new car. There is another option which is what I just did. Picked up a 2001 convertable with 23,483 original miles on it for $18,500. Still like new but now I cna drive this car for the next 5 years ( I average 10,000 miles a year) and I will only have 74,000 miles on it and will still probably bring $12,500 to $14,500 when I sell it and move on to another low mileage C5 or C6.

Sounds kind of like my plan. I'm looking to pick up a C5 with 30K-40K miles so I won't be afraid to drive it, yet still low enough miles that it should be in good shape both mechanically and cosmetically, and I should be able to pick it up for a reasonable price. I don't know why, but many sellers seem to think a C5 with less than 20K miles is worth $20K or more...you got a fairly decent price on yours considering the low mileage...

Somebody will buy that car. I think it looks really nice and would be a great collector car. They are only low mileage and original once.

They will sit on it at that price for a while unless you get just the right person. They are 10k overpriced at least.

Yep, why buy a car and just sit there and look at it?
Sad to see no one driving this car. They were meant to be driven.

It's nice to see a price tag like that on a C5... Shows a top priced Corvette of this generation will help maintain a competitive price for all pampered C5s.. For the nae sayers.. check out the Barrett-Jackson show this month on TV... Look at what's happened to values of the 3-window 63 after some TV action from collectors.... Zoooomm!... Gonna help us all..!

Funny YouTube review of the C5:
"Oh look, Grandpa bought a C5 Corvette and he thinks it's an investment. Newsflash Pops, worms will eat your bone marrow before the C5's will be worth money."

Not saying I agree with everything the fellow says, but in my case there is a lot of truth! I'm a 58 year old grandfather and the fellow hit the nail on the head in many respects in terms of why I bought my Corvette- so I can laugh at myself. I bought a higher mileage car because I did not consider that car to be a collector's item. Judging from many of the posts on this forum, there do appear to be a lot of low mileage Corvettes sitting in garages on battery tenders.

Values of most things are governed by supply and demand. With such a healthy supply of low mileage C5s, and with performance gains such that family sedans and even a few SUVs can match a C5; I am not sure that demand is going to fuel a lot of increases in value. However, any new car that can match the C5's performance stickers for over 2X what I paid for my Corvette- so a C5 does represent a lot of performance "bang for the buck."

Kind a like spending $$$$$$ on a classical painting, hanging it on the wall and covering it with a burlap sack. If you want an investment the DOW increased 25% in 2017. A Vette I'd prefer to drive.

I'm interested, but not at that price.
