crazy question - I store my 67 & 69 vettes with 104 octane unleaded racing gas makes starting them up in the spring so much easier and no carb / gas issues - would there be any issues tanking up my 99 with racing fuel for the winter?

It won't hurt but it's totally unnecessary IMO. Never had an issue with any of my old or newer Vettes after topping off with 93 octane pump gas. I do use Techron in the C5 before prolonged sitting in the winter.

Never had a problem with filling up with Premium before I put it away for 6 months. Has always started right up with no issues. I also add a bottle of Techron.
thanks everyone for the feedback - I have had issues in the past with ethanol, so when I found the 104 unleaded I started using that. I downloaded a "pure gas" app that identify's stations that have ethanol free gas, but the 104 is closer by about 2 hours.

do you not have any race shops closer to you?... usually they sell most types of fuel and if you are only needing a small amount it may not be worth the 2 hour+ drive... you could also order it online in a small drum and that will save time but typically costs more than what it would cost from a race shop

No issues but 104 octane will not help anything. The problem with long term storage (more than 6 months) is fuel degrading/breaking down and in older open systems the absorption of moisture (our fuel systems are closed). Higher octane only helps if the engine needs it for wide open throttle. 93 octane is plenty. Most important things are to have a full tank and if you are storing for more than 5 months use some quality fuel stabilizer.

Not to mention, racing gas doesn't have the detergents, winter stabilizers and additives like PEA that pump gas has.
Need to have unleaded racing fuel for 99 unless your cat less I would go to small plane airport to get leaded 101 lot cheaper that going to the track to get racing fuel for my 69
I fill up with 91 no ethanol before storage and hook up a battery tender. It fires up with no issues after several months. The most I've had to do was top off the tires, as pressure was a little low.

The race shop is less than an hour - the ethanol free gas is over 2 hours

I run 110 octane racing fuel in my '70 which contains lead and it sits more than the winter with no problem. Does the 104 contain lead that would damage your cats? I top my '98 off with 93 octane non ethanol gas for the winter and it does fine.
