2002, Z06 Corvette Andy Pilgrim Special Edition, #3 of 9 Built in the world. Corvette Z06 is flawless in perfect condition. First year of factory heads up display on inside of windshield
Andy Pilgrim Upgrades, $17,000.00 include: 40 Horsepower Increase
$17K for 35HP (405+35 =440)
And the best
Total cost of the car minus sales tax new was $105,445.00. For sale for $60,000.00, OBO, which is about ½ of the cars value new, so a loss of $50,445.00 for 11,233 miles equals a cost of about $30.00 for a mile on the car to drive.
If he gets $60K for that, I'll pee my pants laughing at the buyer.
call me old school...but I remember that for every dollar you invested in aftermarket parts you had to be ready to accept $0 .10 back at resale...on a good day.
Appears pretty expensive. Perhaps a "0" mile, saved as a collectable perhaps, maybe, possibly would go for that. You would be paying quite a bit for the Pilgrim add ons.
A quick look today for 2002 Z06s for sale shows a 18,000 mile Lingenfelter build for $29,9k; a 6,700 mile for $26.9k; a 9,400 mile one for $27.9K; etc, etc.
This is not to knock the seller or Pilgrim, but it appears the seller might be high on the estimated value of this car.
Sorry, but to me that is one fugly C5 and I don't understand how far out of the way and how much money someone will spend to screw up an originally nice car. There are mods and then there are distasteful mods, and IMO those are distasteful and really mess up the car. Did I say I don't like that car? And that seller is delusional about the price but I guess there is a sucker born every minute.
He's got it all--Lambo doors chromed panels everywhere, pimped taillights, bug-eye headlights, and 35 more HP to negate all that chromed metal. I mean, Andy Pilgrim, too!! this's one hell of a tough crowd.
Who's Andy Pilgrim? I'd like to take lessons from him. Anyone who can weasel $17,000 for 35 HP one hell of a grifter. I mean, daayyuuuum--that ain't even rwhp!
ps. did one of you guys pay $80,4 and tax/license for your new '02 back then? just curious...
Andy Pilgrim was/is a very accomplished race car driver who drove on the original factory Corvette team driver and got the team their first major win against the Vipers with a terrific last turn pass at Daytona. He currently is involved with driver education, especially teaching teens to drive properly and he still works with GM. He is British but his permanent residence now is in south Florida. I do remember when he was involved with having his own model Z06 package sold, I didn't think it did that well. Quickly disappeared. That car for sale is a horrible joke and why would someone crap up an upgraded performance car with all that polished garbage. 30ish maybe? Just remembered the doors, mid 20's.
I had to Google Andy Pilgrim C5 special edition just to not call b.s. on this guy. Found some old threads on various corvette forums talking about it. Apparently some dealership was putting them out back in the day. Very over priced back then for the amount of extras that came on the car. So it is a legit thing...and the dealer found 9 suckers to pay a premium to have one.
