Safety Car
Really enjoyed the pictures. also enjoyed that all the cars on display were playing for money, not cleaned up for a trophy, while of possibly great symbolic worth, has a much different loosing outcome.
I struggle with the concept of collectable paint. I can see liking one color better than another and being willing to pay for the pleasure of ownership, but rare paint, one has to be on a granular level of collector criteria to even want to take it that far. I understand the attraction of original paint, knew a guy with an old chevy from the twenties that had original paint, which added a lot of interest .
But a collectable color, when there are hundreds of thousands of paint shops across the land who will paint a car any color you might wish, is too fanatical.
Enjoyed the notable VW build. Whenever I see a VW with an outsized power plant, I am reminded of a buddy who described his response upon trying the newly installed motor in his VW in two words, He pinned the speedo needle on the other side of the pin stop for zero on the speedometer on his first and only test run, guessing he was at about !30mph. His Two word description for his new ride, " Death Trap". He put the old motor back in.
