Here is a different type and works great and folds out of the way when not in use. "Clear Option" cup holder. Do a google search and they will come up. I have had mine for about 7 years now and used in my 04. If you order make sure you order Driver side and passenger side they are different. Here's a few pictures. Sorry you will need to turn your phone or lap top sideways.LOL

I have both the single and double version of the "Travel Buddy"

I bought the single in the NEUTRAL COLOR and loved it so much I posted about it many years ago right here. The owner of the company saw the post and the resulting thread and sent me the double at no charge.

BUY THE DOUBLE and you will never look back. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the many uses.

The Clear Option holder is much better for me. It folds flat when not in use, which is ideal for passengers. Plus, the arms articulate to hold larger cups. I have one for me and one for the passenger.

I got mine years ago from "Girl in a box". Anybody remember that? That was back in the days when the c5 was new and 99.9% of the complaints were about cup holders.

Got a link to that small fire extinguisher?
I’m going to have to look for the receipt. I can’t remember off hand. I’m thinking I found it at Home Depot though.

Yep, that is the style I have used for over a decade in several cars. But I don't use the flat piece to mount mine. I just slip a piece of 1/4" plywood the size of the cup holder behind the carpet and screw the cupholder to it through the carpet. Works great for us.

Thats a great idea! My only concern about using a wood or sheet metal screw is if the vibration of the car causes them to loosen?
Since I’m putting in new rugs, I might want to switch to that method!

Mine have never loosened in several different cars and thousands of miles.
I use short, countersunk, wood screws so they just break through the back of the wood behind the carpet. The stock felt pad that is between the tunnel and the carpet is not damaged.

Thanks! One last question, what are the rough dimensions of the wood you use?

The same size as the square cup holder back plate...size varies with different cup holder models.
Or use two strips of wood, one for the top and one for the bottom.
I have used thin plywood as well as wood paint stir sticks.......but they can split if a pilot hole isn't pre-drilled

Where did you buy the cup holder part to make your own ? Might try jrprich style on C7.

Thanks, I’ve got plenty of plywood, so thats the way I’ll go.
Since my radio bezel is going to be the last thing I put in, I’ve got ideal access.

If you are asking about the cup holder itself there are many options.
On eBay or Amazon search "folding cup holder"
There are many variations, some better than others.

Both styles are occasionally listed in the C5 "For Sale" section, usually at very good prices.
