Searched the forum and could not find the answer specifically. Will a manual shifter from a c6 bolt directly into a c5 without any modifications. Looking to do the change and wanted to verify. I thought it did but wanted to verify.
+1. I put one in my C5, and wanted to use the original C5 shift **** so as to make it look like the original. It was a while ago, but as I recall it was a quick modification of the shift **** along with machining a slot in the shifter handle near the top to re-use the demon key. Also re-used the C5 boot. Looks stock but has the shorter throw. I totally forgot I'd made this mod until I saw the OP's question.
I put one in last year. Easy job, took about 15 minutes give or take. Bolted right in. If I recall, I bought another shift boot as the factory one was too tight. You can cut the stitches so it fits, but I didn't like the look of it having a small cut so I just bought a different boot.
Sure will. Got me a nice C6 Z06 shifter and it fit right in. Had to cut a slit in the inner rubber boot though to make it fit over the shift box. No big deal and did not change the function of the boot. Love the shorter firmer shift.
Yeah, it fits just fine as long as you also use a c6 style **** or do some work to either the c5 ****/c6 shifter.
After driving one, I really didn't think it was much better than the stock ****. If you're trying to upgrade, I would recommend driving a few cars or at least shifting through the gears in cars with both c6 and aftermarket shifters. I wouldn't be happy with the stock c6 shifter, but I love my B&M. Some love stock, some love c6.
I have the C6 shifter. Easy upgrade and imho the shorter throw a significant improvement over stock C5. I went with a c6 **** as I think it updates the interior and just feels better. I also replaced the boot with one specifically made for the c6 shifter in ac5.
I had a C6 Z06 shifter in my 98. I really liked it. If I remember right, I had to have the shifter boot stretched to fit the bottom of the C6 Z06 **** though (the shifter boot I had was aftermarket)
