I would have thought an OBD2 feed straight to a tablet sized to fit the space and use a monitor software would have been the ticket.
Custom and you have a lot more options because you can put anything on it... hell, if you wanted to mount FLiR on the car (I've thought of it) and have the tablet function as your screen, that could work too.
Bringing this thread back because I am in the process of mounting a Racepak to my OEM cluster surround. It is a bit more difficult than the Mustang one that was posted previously as the back side of the cluster surround for a C5 is not flat, it bends in two directions. I tried to use the Racepak bracket to mount it to the bezel and then thermoform some ABS behind it but the stuff I used was to thick. I'm looking for some creative ideas to help me finish this project up.
Thought I had a solution but it seems to have fallen through. Anybody else have ideas for mounting and shrouding this up?
Why not gut a stock gauge cluster, make an MDF insert and mount like factory?
I attempted that but its not as simple as it seems. None of the components in the cluster have flat mounting surfaces. Everything bends forward at the top and on each side.
I had another member on the forums contact me about building me a custom dash surround so I thought I'd bump this up to use it as a review/look at me thread. I don't want to break any forum rules by posting the individuals name/info until he obtains vendor status but if you want to message me I can forward his info along.
I know the picture is terrible and lighting makes the textured paint look wonky but I will say that the craftsmanship that went into this bezel is top notch. He worked with me to get me exactly what I wanted and that is what he achieved. I could not be happier with the bezel that was built for me and I would not hesitate to recommend him to any other members.
Interesting read, does this cause heaps of Diagnostic trouble codes? I would assume so since the BCM and various other control modules would not have anything to interface with??
Also assume you loose all abs, traction control, active handling and airbag functionality as well?

I'm running a Haltech Elite 2500, Racepak IQ3 and deleted OEM PCM. My car is track only. If you're just adding a racepak to your car there is no reason you would lose ABS, TC, AH, or SRS. My SRS is gone because I have a racing steering wheel and a gutted dash and my ABS/TC/AH was removed to make room for my turbo setup, everything else on the car is functioning as it should.
