I'm planning to buy a C5 in the next month or so, been doing lots of research here. I was wondering if there was a database somewhere or even a poll that gave an indication of the number of cars produced in all the factory colors. From what I've seen so far silver is the most popular color by far, maybe 3 or 4 out of 10 cars. Next is black, then Torch Red.
I've been hunting for a red or blue car, initially I wanted torch red but now I've seen Magnetic Red I prefer that. Also there are 3 blues I've seen, I prefer Nassau Blue but they seem uncommon. Yellow also seems uncommon.
I also prefer a manual so when you put that with a less common color you start finding it hard to get the car you want.
Plus I want an unmodified car, the search gets harder!
We bought a Speedway White with a black convertible top, 6spd. I wanted the Nassau Blue, but this one came-up so we took it. I have a good friend that is a body man so he said whenever I want to change the color take all the panels off, strip the interior, and bring it over in my car trailers. Won't be doing that for a while. And Nassau blue paint is very expensive!

Pick up a copy of "Corvette Black Book", by Mike Antonick. Gives a decent amt of production info, including colors by body type.
I picked up this book last year. Gives a lot of detail with info on interior/ exterior combinations as well as Auto/Manual. I found out our 98 coupe Artic White is one of 43. The Artic White is a common color but the Firehorn red interior on the less common side then add in Z51 package and made ours 1 of 43 artic white coupes auto Z51 firehorn red. Thats not going to make it worth more money but its kind of cool to know the numbers.
There are a lot of resources for colors and they're all fairly accurate for the most part.
Myself I had to own Nassau Blue; it was the C5 that made me want a C5. It limited my buying options however as it was only a 97-00 color. I do get a lot of compliments on the car, as not many people see a C5 much less a Corvette in that color. A lot of people like to act like color isn't important. However whatever you buy you're stuck with and getting a quality re-paint is not cheap in the least.
I picked up a copy of the Corvette Black Book. I gives the number produced of each exterior color. I wish it gave the numbers produced of each ext/int color combo, but it doesn't. That would be far more useful...

I have to agree with you on that. I was set on buying a Torch Red car until I saw Magenta Red, it completely changed my mind on colors. Then later I saw a Nassau Blue car and then red wasn't so important any more, that blue is really stunning! I didn't know it was a limited year color which explains why I have seen so few.
