On one hand, I would think that if the battery was installed in 2012, but then both the "1" and the "2" should have been punched out. Therefore, I'm led to believe it's a 2002 battery, even though common sense would say that it's not likely to be functioning all that well, after 16 years.

Oh, the puzzlement! It’s been working very well for the 2 years I’ve had the car. Too well for a 16 year old battery!
