I have a spot on my trunk lid where a huge patch of bird crap landed. I cleaned it that day and it still left a spot. After a few washings and some serious waxing is it almost gone but bird poop is to be feared for sure!!! Especially on black paint.
My car sits outside without a full cover so I have the issues of bird poop. Here is what I do. 1) a 'zillion' coats of Zano. 2) as soon as I see a spot, I take a very wet soaking paper towel and let it sit on the poop for about 30 minutes. Remove the one soaking the poop and take another wet paper towel and blot the affected area. Then put another Zano on the spot. So far, no permanent poop damage.
Down in Florida in May and September the problem here is love bugs. With all the acid in their bodies, they will eat into the paint if not removed in a short period of time. You can't avoid driving into them and they mash all over the car.
