I just bought a full original exh system from a c5 z06 off craigslist and have the midpipe play with. I will install the titanium catback untouched...but was curious about the midpipe and cats. Has anybody ever deleted the main cats but left the pups to deal with gas and fumes smell?...would just the pre cats take care of the gas fumes? Any gains? Also is it worth opening up the h pipe restrictions? I will keep one set oem original and uncut but I'm just curious if it's worth messing with the other....thanks. Car is a c5 frc, basically stock. Thanks
The 2001 pup cats were needed until GM could design a better main cat in 02. Deleting the pups gained 5HP of 20 from 01 to 02 on the LS6 motor.
As far as I understand the main cats all flow quite well, and being a bit further from the motor, I'm guessing gutting them would be little benefit. I think you'd be better getting rid of the pup cats. I may be wrong.
As for the H pipe, if you're going to mess with It, just install an X in its place.
Thanks grantv...appreciate the info! I did read about the pup delete but I was considering leaving them and cut out the main cats. Sounds like minimal results either way.. but it is shedding weight.

Reason: More unfo5
The bypass is about sound. If you want louder the Ti won't be much, and cutting a set up is a pity if you have a base set to cut. The bigger (not big) benefit of the Ti system is weight loss.
For more volume cut up your aluminized steel system IMO. Same volume and flow.
