Default Puddle/Courtesy lights

OK I'm on the horns of a delima...I want to install some puddle/courtesy lights that come on when I open the doors, but where the heck is the switch or connection that turns the interior light's on when they open normally?

What about the switch or sensor that says "Door Ajar", where's it?

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong schematics but I can't even locate the wiring.

I just piggybacked off the footwell lights. They're right next to the doors and easy to access.

Me too. Just put a strip on the underside of the door, run your wire thru the rubber grommet there and then run the wire to the footwell light.
I also electrified my door reflectors on the same circuit.
TSUMI, one of my leds pooped out and I think its a bad omen. What kind of stuff did you use in your tail lights? It has to run on the 12 volts from the footwells of course.

They're regular piranha/superflux 5mm LEDs. You can find them on ebay, 100 for $9 from a US seller. Plenty more choices just searching superflux or piranha 5mm leds.

If you have the halo mod, I would suggest looking into wiring a resistor to limit the current going through these LEDs. 160 mA is way too much for these LEDs, they're designed to operate at 20 mA, 30 at most. A 25 ohm resistor on the positive or negative side should limit it to 30 mA, but it would need to be capable of handling at least 1 watt. For the most common resistors, the closest values are 22 and 27.

^ ebay, dirt cheap & perfect size to fit in existing grommets under your door. string your own longer wire along door inside thru accordion and tap into footwell lights.

they turn on and off w/footwells. they say "interior" but I have had them for years now and no issues with water shorting them...if so, I have backups in the garage.

here is the 1st set my search found:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-T...9alhv8&vxp=mtr

you may find some cheaper if you keep looking "festoon LED 12" is what I searched for just now.

Thanks. I need to repair my door reflector lights. They are individual and one just pooped out. This is the one, the forward tip of the point is now toast.
