Surprised no one has said Blackfire's Wet Ice over Fire combo. I go by the Griots brick and mortar all the time and LOVE their new correction creme, so used that and then the Blackfire's Combo and i am very happy with the results on our torch red coupe Also it seems to hold up really well so far!

I will be doing my yearly full detail in about a month, and this time I am going to tackle the barrels on the wheels.
Never did that since I have owned the Vette, and they look crappy.
I had been thinking about different wheels, but I like the stock ones enough to keep them, and cleaning the gunk on the inside of them should make them look even better.
The finishing touch (again, something I have never done) will be a ceramic coating, to finish it off.
When Bill (evil twin) was here , he posted many pictures of his super clean torch red toy, and the finish was unbelievable.
He never told any of us just what he used on it, but my guess is ceramic.
I hope when finished, my mag red will look as good.

If I can recall, I think ET said he used Zaino on almost everything, including his food ...anyway, if you get your Vette to look 10% as good as his..... that would be a JC miracle

To OP, I have not used Menzerma but have had surprisingly good results with Meguiars Ultimate which is a synthetic polymer. It applies easily, provides a great shine and seems to withstand numerous washings, esp if you blow dry the car. I know, I know just good 'ol Meguiars that you can buy down the street at your auto parts store, etc.. but I really like it and price isn't bad.

I have a lot of confidence in what I do when it comes to detailing.
The finish on my old 66 bird is close to the ET vette, and this is without a ceramic coat.
I know for sure the Vette, with a ceramic coat will look just as good as the ET Vette.
I don't think I need to wait for hell to freeze over.

I spent about 15 hours on the Tbird, from start to finish.
Getting it ready for wax took up most of the time.
I expect the Vette won't be nearly as bad, because I am damm near there as far as prep will be concerned.
I already have a good base to work with.
This picture of my pickup was after I finished one fender, and once again, no ceramic coating.

The Tbird was not wet sanded, and for sure the Vette isn't going to be.

I keep in touch with the previous owner.
I will ask her if she ever had it wet sanded.
She doesn't strike me as someone who would have been that fussy about the exterior of her car.
She kept it clean, but nothing near like what I do.
Besides me,she is the only one who ever owned the Vette.
She bought it new in 04.

I wouldn't say the "only one"
I'm pretty sure Bill's (ET) doesn't have op either.
I am going to start looking close at c5 and c6 Vettes to see if they have op.
As I said earlier, I have a good base to work with, and I fully expect it to come out flawless.
Now if we can just get over this friggin rain, and somewhat cool days, I can get started.
Here in So cal, we are bracing for a bitch of a storm for the next three days non stop.

I wish I could get a shine like yours Bob...
This is the best I can do...
Maybe I should stop using Land of Lakes unsalted, melted butter, then spread it on with a box of Kleenex...

NO,NO,NO.NO. You are doing it all wrong.
Don't use butter, use vegetable oil with a micro fiber towel.
You think you car is shiny now, you ain't seen nothing yet, until you wipe that **** with a microfiber towel.
I promise if you do this, your car will have that wet look for days to come, until it attracts so many ants, you wont b able to tell what color it is.
Seriously I have always admired the finish on your car.
I believe when you first posted a pic of it on the forum, I said it all in one word,"Beautiful", and it certainly is.
