Wanted a C5 cause it’s awesome and could afford it. Under $10,000 and hope to pass it on to my son eventually. Everything works

Maybe C6 Z06 prices are coming down, I would like to have one, but still keep C5 convertible.

Most seem to be in the.mid to low 30 some higher. It's the GS that people want mid 30 and some high 40 it's all over the place...if I'm gonna pay high 30 low 40 for a vette I would look at a base c7. Some of the GS prices make me laugh most still sitting .

As far as I am concerned you got a great deal. I have a Navy Blue 6 speed Coupe with 34,000 miles. I have owned this car for 18 years and there is no way I would sell it for what you paid. I'm 63 and just plan on keeping my C5 as long as I can crawl in and out of it.

I know I paid a premium for the 2000 convertible I just bought, but now that I have the new Michelin non RF Pilots on, the car is brand new. I was willing to pay $20k for 15,700 mile car with no blemishes.

C5 and c6 are the best preowned vehicles to buy.

I've always bought my 2 c5 sone a z51 and one a z06 and now I own a 2008 c6 z51 since new and with 119k mikes on my present corvette I would suggest saving big money at the time of purchase and not worry about miles...

10 grand for the OP model chosen is a steal and 110k miles is nothing.

If I were shopping I'd go for a lower initial cost on a higher mileage vehicle than pay almost double for a low mileage example.

These cars don't break and if they do the cost is Chevy cheap...

I do believe the c5 s are among the most beautiful of cars with just the need for slightly larger diameter wheels than stock to be fully contemporary looking...

To me it will always be a great choice as GM validates these cars for 300k miles..so they can project their costs for their 5/100000 mile drivetrain warranty.

Have fun and buy with confidence.

I always smile when I see c5 s on the road being driven as they were not meant to sit on a pedestal in the garage.

110 k miles is nothing for a corvette.

I fully expect my corvette will run 300k miles although the new rear mid engine has peaked my interest in a new corvette before then

Btw c6 s with high mileage are heavily depreciated as well so don't think it's just c5s..

I say who cares as all my miles all my years my corvette puts a smile on my face ..and when I move on to a new corvette...maybe preowned for the first time in 40 years of buying new cars...corvettes are awesome...

All cars depreciate with mileage ...smiling and fun make that depreciation worthwhile...

To put numbers on buying and selling corvettes from a personal perspective...for my value etc..

I figure to lease a new corvette the annual cost is 8 grand give or take a few grand...

So if I bought a new corvette at fifty grand...(round numbers) and keep it ten years sell it for 15 grand ...my cost of ownership is 35000 plus cost of repairs beyond oil changes...divide by 10 and my annual cost is (give or take) 3500 dollar or 300 a month...

To drive and use one of these beauties for 300 a month is a hell of a deal.

The only thing better is buying a 10 to 15 grand preowned beauty and enjoying it for another 5 or ten years...

I believe between depreciation and repairs/maintaince as well your costs are 150 a month

You can't lease a Kia for that and you're DRIVING A 170 mph corvette!

Nice post and I agree. Some replacement parts aren't too expensive, but many of them have the "Corvette tax" applied, so there is that. One thing I'm seeing with the many C5s I've looked at, paying the premium for the low mileage ones usually gets you nicer paint and nicer seats. If you don't care about that stuff and all you want is a driver, then yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage as long as it's been reasonably maintained and not abused....

IMO buying my c5 was one of my dumbest financial moves. These cars are over populated, under driven and offer no real perk of rarity or special trim outside of a Z.

Theres 3 c5 in my ho hum neighborhood lurking in garages.

I wish I bought an rt/10 Viper at the time for the same price. Badass and appreciating.

Even the Z isn't rare. Try doing a for sale search on '01 thru '04 models...most of them are Zs...

Correct. None are really special at all.

My Cobra mustangs held more value. Low volume and numbered.

This is torch red, a 2000 coupe /targa top. No it’s not perfect but it’s my fun car and the paint is great , has tons of zip and handles amazing. Paid $9,000 with 114.000 on it but it is going to get driven a lot — not sit in garage. Put better OEM wheels on it and got a small oil leak fixed. Everything works. No rips in seat and have all repairs and service records from conception😀 hope you find yours. There is a low miles 28,000 in my area for $19,900. I didn’t want to spend over $10,000. FYI my brothers are mechanics and looked and drove car before I made offer. It pays to have it checked so you don’t get stuck with costly repairs. And I get a ton of compliments on it wherever I go.

I bought mine as a daily driver and a beater to be honest. To me a vehicle is a vehicle its not a special snowflake unless its a only 10 produced. With all the electrical problems my C5 has had in my ownership quite frankly I spend more time fixing it then driving it. The body in nice shape, the engine is running great, removed the factory seats and replaced them. Now all the plastic interior is either breaking or has broken. Its truly a real fun car to drive and I already know it cant compete with any of the newer cars that come with 400+ HP from the factory and not even a sports car unless I dump thousands of dollars into it. At that point is more cost effective to buy something else.

other then my above qualms it still gets compliments and I still like driving it, I just wont buy another one and am currently looking at other options. I drive my Giulia a lot more now and I still come home from work and swear my vette is frowning at me. Maybe I'll put a cover on it for the next 50 years and it will be worth a million dollars lol.
