I have several sets of sae and mm wrenches up to 15/16 and 19mm.
what wrenches do i need above that? i know one i need is a 24 mm for the tie rod bolt and seems like the rear wheel hub is a 40 mm socket? what others do i need for my tool box. i could just try and find a whole set of big wrenches but don't seem there would be that many you really need.
I would assume most of us have the "standard" set. When I need something above and beyond I go to HF/Pep Boys for the one size unless I know it will get plenty of use.

I have what some call a Ford wrench, the small one ( 9“)will go upto near 4”, but will adjust Down to near paper thickness , once adjusted on something when removed will not fit until it is opened up and readjusted , put a pipe for leverage or hit with a hammer. Used it on hydraulice hose in the aircraft industry when changed adapters and end fittings.
also have a Neiko pro 1/2 drive torque wrench, seen them cheap, lifting a gallon of milk seems harder than torquing to 100 ft/lbs

Reason: Additional info
It seems that sometimes no matter how many sockets, wrenches, etc, you have, the one you need is the one you don't have. Which is why I tell my wife every time I get something new: "It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it." Plus it makes you popular with your friends who call to borrow stuff.

the rear spring has like a 21mm up top. sunex has a set of angle wrenches for $44 on ebay something like 20,21,22,23,24,25, and then another set for $44 sizes 26,27,28,29,30.31,32
thats what i bought to complete my wrench set above 19, it had all the sizes i was missing
For the odd or large size tools that are used very infrequently, I just borrow them from AutoZone. My deposit is refunded when I return the tool and I didn't invest the money on a tool that I use only once or twice.
I have a massive breaker bar set that ranges from 28mm up to 50MM. It weighs about 50 pounds and I've used it exactly 3 times. Worth every penny because I'm a child and I can't resist having these things if I need them once.

Good advice - I think O’Reilly’s also loans out tools.
