When i pulled the radio bezel it was really simple, nothing difficult about the top clips, so i thought. When it can to reinstalling i noticed it was not holding tightly at the top and on inspection it looks like the slots for the bezel clips are broken.
I've tried molding the clips up to grip the top area better but it still falls back and become loose.
Wondering if anyone has had this happen and repaired it. when looking at used dash pads online they all seem to be broken the same way so maybe there is something missing that i am not seeing.
My vette was not purchased new and did not have the stock radio in it when i bought it. The Double DIN bezel fitment has been a real source of angst for me and it have it in pretty good but not perfect. the top clips would make a difference if they actually worked.
When I pulled mine one of the top tabs and one of the side pins were broken (I think they were already broken, it couldn't have been me, lol), anyway I used
, yes used the kind for metal (I know their plastic) worked like a charm, let them sit over night and strong as they were new. Just make sure the tabs are lined up like before they broke.
6Speedsteve's trick definitely helped mine. The new Vettenuts bezel I just installed fits tight to the dash better than any others I had prior including the stock one!
Good tips here. i wish it was a broken tab. i did do this adjustment and it helped, but the bezel is still low in the top left corner and on the top right where it meets the trip. have a good 1/4" gap at the top left.
