Just wanted to know what all y'all convertible guys and gals are using to clean & preserve your tops?
Raggtop has a great product. Comes in both cloth and vinyl top applications. I use cloth for my 02 vert and vinyl for sons stang. 1st step spray on and wipe clean. Next spray on protectant. Keeps it looking sharp!!
I use simple green.
Always have, and always will.
It does a fantastic job on those black stains these convertibles are known for.
After cleaning, the top looks like new.

Simple Green, would have never thought of that, I've got about a gallon in the garage, thanks for the info. I'll treat with Simple Green first and then 303 to protect!

I put about a gallon of hot water in a pail, and add one cup of simple green.
I use a big sponge to scrub the top.
On the black stains I let the solution soak for a few minutes before scrubbing them.

Be sure to rinse well.
Bob.
i will try this i have those black spots too.....any body ever use the OXICLEAN product? to remove the black spots?
Be careful. Only use a soft horsehair brush to lightly scrub or you can chafe and fray the threads. Using a protectant like 303 helps water to bead avoiding many stains in the first place and makes it easier to clean.

This is what I use to clean the top.
I don't like the idea of using any kind of brush, because it may damage
the fibers of the top, especially the seams.
I use what I used to use on my old CJ5 soft top - Tide laundry detergent mixed with water. It removed the stains from dirt and mud. That makes a great cleaner for plastic as well. I used to spray down my dirt bike after a day at the track with the Tide solution and hose it off and it would take all the crud off.
