Default engine builder

Live in Discovery Bay Ca. looking for a good engine builder in the area. Have a rod knock in a 2004 Z06 with 47000 mile and want to stroke it with a cam and heads. Anybody? Or will sell as is for $13000...

It will be more cost effective and faster to purchase a pre assembled short block from a reputable vendor than to have yours rebuilt. Also, no offense but $13K for a C5 that needs a motor is pretty steep.

That it might be but you will not find a cleaner C5 Z06 around. Never been in the rain or eaten in. If you count the cost of the engine this will price out at just about the right price for a clean 04

With just price of engine perhaps, but labor is not cheap. Would be a good base to do a LS3 swap in though.

That's the route I would go.

You can get a full LS3 crate motor with 525 HP from GM performance with a two year warranty for around $8500.00.

No offense to your troubleshooting ability, however, are sure you are not just experiencing "piston slap"?

Plus labor for installation, and parts to make it work. That's easily a $12,000 - $13,000 swap if you pay someone to do it.
