While my 03 C5 sat through the last few months of "global warming", it developed and odd condition. When the fan was on any setting except the lowest, you could feel a vibration in the dash and it made a sound not unlike the one you may recall from when you were a kid and pinned playing cards on a bicycle fork to make motor sounds when the spokes plucked it.
So, I called to get an appointment at my favorite 'Vette fixing place in Triangle, VA to get this remedied only to find out that Cooper Corvettes has closed and moved and restaffed. Gahh! That is like finding out your favorite doctor or barber has taken a powder. I was able to garner the location of their old service manager though. Tom McGrath ran the service dept. at Cooper's is now the manager of Koons Automotive Service in Fredericksburg, VA. (540)735-0573. I know this is not an ad board, but finding reliable, honest and competent service for your Corvette is important stuff, so I am posting it for those in the DC-Richmond area. This guy is good and knows what he is doing.
Anyway, back to the story of the A/C blower. I arrived a little early on Saturday and Tom put one of his techs (Eric) on the job. The concerto being provided by the blower was caused by chopped up leaves and bits of cloth and string inside the blower wheel. It deposited there by a mouse probably to make a winter nest....little varmint didn't even offer to pay rent! The critter was nowhere to be found probably off doing whatever mice do in the spring I guess. The wheel was cleaned out and a bit of R-134 added to the A/C and I was back in business all for well under $200! All done in 1.5 hours. So if you have weirdness emitting from you blower fan, this might be the cause.....and if you need reliable service, go see Tom.
